The Psychotherapy Internship Program is an intensive, hands-on experience designed for students and professionals looking to enhance their practical skills in psychotherapy.

120 hours

Topics to be covered
  • This intensive internship blends theoretical learning with practical experience. From understanding mental disorders and diagnostic criteria to applying various treatments, you'll immerse yourself in the comprehensive world of clinical psychology.

    • The importance of the client-therapist relationship in therapeutic outcomes
    • Techniques for building rapport and trust
    • Role-play: Establishing rapport in the initial session

    • Core concepts: Cognitive restructuring, thought patterns, and behavioural interventions
    • Practical demonstration: Identifying cognitive distortions
    • Case study analysis: A CBT case with depression/anxiety

    • Exposure therapy for anxiety disorders and phobias
    • Behavioral experiments and activity scheduling
    • Role-play: Conducting a CBT session for social anxiety

    • Core DBT skills: Mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness
    • Practical exercise: Mindfulness practice and group discussion on emotional regulation
    • Role-play: Teaching a client DBT skills

    • Core principles: Empathy, congruence, and unconditional positive regard
    • Group exercise: Practicing active listening and empathic responses

    • Introduction to Gestalt therapy: Focus on the present and experiential exercises
    • Practical demonstration: Empty chair technique and its applications
    • Role-play: Conducting a Gestalt therapy session with an unresolved issue

    • Exploring the unconscious mind and defense mechanisms
    • Case study analysis: Understanding a psychodynamic case with relational patterns
    • Practical exercise: Free association and exploring transference in therapy

    • Supervised role-play: Conducting a complete therapy session using the chosen therapeutic approach
    • Peer feedback and group discussion on techniques, challenges, and improvements
    • Supervision from the facilitator on therapeutic interventions

    • Supervised role-play: Continuing practice with different therapeutic approaches
    • Final reflections and feedback from the facilitator
